- Message Boards: How and why to use them
- Volunteering: How and why to do it
- Reasons to bring your kids to the AMC (and tell your friends to)
Look-out for more important info in next week's newsletter.
1. Schedule changes
Check-out the AMC2011 Schedule and note that Sunday is 2 hours longer than in previous years. There will be a morning session block, followed by a lunch break, followed by two session blocks and a Closing Celebration, with the day ending at 5:00 p.m. Sunday night, join us for the not-to-be-missed Allied Mania after-party. Plan your travel accordingly and stay in Detroit as long as you can!
2. Message Boards
Visit talk.alliedmedia.org and use the message boards to coordinate travel and housing. Are you a Detroiter willing to open up your home to fascinating AMC participants from out of town? If so, create a "resource offered" post to the housing message board. Are you an out-of-towner looking to stay with a fascinating and gracious Detroit host for free, low-cost or trade? If so create a "call for support" post on the housing message board.
Are you flying into Detroit Metro Airport? Use the travel message board to coordinate with other people who are flying into Detroit at the same time as you, so you can share a cab. Are you wondering if other people from your city are traveling to the AMC and looking to carpool? Post a "call for support" on the travel message board.
3. Volunteering
Help make this the smoothest, happiest and healthiest AMC ever! Sign up to volunteer for one of these essential roles: Accessibility, Childcare, Registration Table, Documentation, A/V, Party Set-up / Break-down, Translation, Relaxation Room.
Visit alliedmedia.org/amc2011/volunteer to sign up.
4. Bring Your Kids to the AMC!
As always, there will be childcare for kids ages two months and older during the daytime hours of the AMC, with nighttime childcare available upon request. If you are bringing kids to the AMC, be sure to include their names and ages when you register.
This year, eight childcare collectives from across the country have combined forces to design the most imaginative, exploratory AMC Kids Track ever. Kids four years old and up will take a magical journey where they engage with each other, imaginary characters and the stars and constellations of the AMC Galaxy. From our families to our homes, our communities to our earth, kids will explore their stories, dream up infinite possibilities, and express their visions for the world through paper, through voice, through play and beyond.
In addition to the Kids Track, there will be all-ages sessions for kids to explore on their own, with their parents or with a crew of friends!
Last but not least, Let us send you some of these HOTTT NEW AMC2011 flyers!
