This event is co-sponsored by the Spelman College Museum of Fine Art in partnership with Atlanta Celebrates Photography, the Spelman College Women's Research and Resource Center and the High Museum of Art.

Renée Cox, a Jamaica-born, New York-based artist, is widely acclaimed for her photographic series that provoke, question, and challenge the multi-layered impact of sexism and racial prejudice.

Cox will discuss iconic works such as Hot-En-Tot (1994) as well as her current series The Discreet Charm of the Bougies, both featured in Undercover: Performing and Transforming Black Female Identities on view at the Spelman College Museum of Fine Art September 10 through December 5, 2009.
