Hi everyone--
As some of you may know, most of the campuses in the University of Puerto Rico system (the only public institution of higher education in the country) are on strike against the administration's current policies, whose ultimate goal is the privatization of the university. The indefinite strike declared in the Río Piedras campus is on its 15th day today. The one declared in the Mayagüez campus is on its 4th day. I encourage you to do a search in the internet where you will find more detailed information. The purpose of this email is to circulate, as widely as possible, links with information from within the island. I will greatly appreciate it if you could forward these links to everyone you can think of. We want to spread the word, but, especially, we want to circulate the stuff the students, faculty, staff, parents, etc, are producing.

Como algun@s sabrán, la mayoría de los recintos en el sistema de la Universidad de Puerto Rico (la única institución universitaria pública en el país) está en huelga contra las políticas de la presente administración, cuyo último objetivo es la privatización de la universidad. La huelga indefinida declarada en el recinto de Río Piedras está hoy en su día #15. La huelga indefinida declarada en el recinto de Mayagüez está hoy en su día #4. L@s exhorto a que hagan una búsqueda en internet para obtener más detalles. El propósito de este mensaje es circular, tanto como sea posible, enlaces con información desde la isla. Apreciaré inmensamente si pueden enviar estos enlaces a cuantas personas sea posible. Queremos diseminar la información, pero, especialmente, queremos dar a conocer lo que l@s estudiantes, profesor@s, emplead@s no docentes, padres, etc, están produciendo.
