Midwiving Freedom

"I want to draw the outline of pain and freedom where they join and where they part.
like child and its mother..."

Audre Lorde (early draft of the poem "Between Ourselves")

Is anyone still tripping over the fact that it is 2010? An astrologer who attended the New Year's Day MobileHomeComing Replay Healing Circle Event explained that from 2000 to 2111 we are in an 111 year period of the zero. And that this is the millenium of the feminine (2 is about collaboration) and that the earth is getting ready to give birth to a new form of life. Makes me want to learn some more about astrology and numerology, but nuff said, we are in a deep period of time.

2010. We are in year with 2 open zeroes, divisible by itself. Offering vision better than 20/20. Seeing ourselves this clearly might be painful, but the birth of our new selves is necessary because a WHOLE lot has got to change before 2012 or whatever big Octavia Butler-type transition (climate?/no more oil?) is getting ready to happen on this planet.

So are you willing to be transformed? What is the relationship between pain and freedom in your life right now?

For example QBG Isis (definitely in the spirit of collaboration and possibility) is suggesting a group where QBG's can read and give feedback on each other's writing. Are folks interested? Join the conversation here:

All these zeroes are clearing my mind. I have clarity of how much learning and teaching we need in our communities, the depth of conversation and alignment it will take to create community on a level that I have not experienced but know is necessary. As always, I turn to Audre Lorde as a prophet, writer of sacred texts, teacher and ancestor guide in this process.

I definitely would love for you to engage in that process with me via the School of Our Lorde, in gestation this month and popping off in February. Find out more here: http://summerofourlorde.wordpress.com/

And finally, because NC continues to represent and because Black Girls clearly rock, I wanted to lead you all to this fun free EP project The Doug and Patty EP (ya'll remember that cartoon Doug? Quality.) I don't endorse the skits on here, but the songs are great! Yay Carlitta. Download it: http://www.okayplayer.com/news/Carlitta-Durand-The-Doud-and-Patty-EP.html
